KZN Disaster Relief

Following heavy rains and flooding in parts of KwaZulu-Natal, volunteer teams from Ashraful Aid are in various districts of Durban attending to needs of families. Huge numbers of people lost their homes, possessions and now entirely destitute. People living near rivers are worst affected. Scenes from Marianhill, Verulam, Tongaat and Waterloo in KwaZulu-Natal province where Ashraful Aid Disaster Response teams are providing emergency items such as food, blankets and mattresses to residents. Back to School

2022 kicked off busy as usual for our school goers, and Ashraful Aid, benevolent donors, and Caring Women’s Forum were ready for the school year with a combined contribution, 2000 learners received school bags with a surplus of stationary inside. The jubilant smiles received were beyond words. Through our donors and partners, our team distributed books to 19 schools across South Africa.

ZAKAAT HAMPER DISTRIBUTIONS

Ashraful Aid embarked on a country wide Zakaah hamper roll-out, planning to distribute over 10,000 hampers to needy families in South Africa. During March 2022, our teams were active in Rustenburg, Carletonville, Potchefstroom, Mitchells plain (Cape Town) and the Gauteng West Rand towns.

Disaster Relief in GEORGE, WESTERN CAPE

Ashraful Aid together with SA Harvest, social services, the George Mayor’s office and local fire fighters swiftly distributed essential items in Ramaphosa informal settlement, New Dawn & Central George which included blankets, mattresses and water. Hot meals were prepared and provided to 350 homeless people. Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in George and surrounding areas during early 2022. Several clinics have also been affected by the inclement weather.

ASSISTING THE COMMUNITY OF AZAADVILLE – SOUTH AFRICA

Concerned with the rapid deterioration of some roads,Azaadville’s ward 3 councillor Shabier Dabheliahapproached Ashraful Aid for assistance. 2021 ASHRAFUL AID WALK FOR CHARITY IN LENASIA

Ashraful Aid, in collaboration with the City ofJohannesburg’s Sports and Recreation Departmenthosted a 7km Fun Walk for Charity on Sunday,November 7th 2021, at the Lenasia Cricket Stadium. Thefun walk began on Hummingbird Avenue in Ext 1, withthe final lap concluding inside the stadium. The eventattracted participants from Lenasia, and other parts ofJohannesburg. Among those who joined the fun walkwere members of Blind Cricket SA.

2021 Blind Cricket South Africa T20 National Tournament

Excitement was in the air in October, as host affiliateBlind Cricket South Africa welcomed visually impairedcricketers from various provinces around the country toJohannesburg, for the Blind Cricket South Africa T20National Tournament. Lions Cricket & Ashraful Aid Teamed Up To ‘Braai for Charity’

Ashraful Aid in partnership with Lions Cricket teamed up to get their braai stands out on Friday, September 24th at the iconic Imperial Wanderers Stadium to braai and donate 5000 burgers. Braai’d by volunteers, the burgers were donated to various charities, communities and cricket clubs on the day. The Braai for Charity initiative kicked off Ashraful Aid’s annual Donate A Plate campaign which supports the UNICEF Global Goal of Zero Hunger and aims to reduce hunger amongst the most vulnerable….

Zakaat Hampers Distributed In Cape Town

As part of Ashraful Aid’s Zakaat hamper distribution, the team was on the ground in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town in September 2021 to distribute 1500 Zakaat hampers. Mitchells Plain has developed into one of South Africa’s largest residential suburbs with the plight of the most vulnerable reported often. To help alleviate poverty situations, Ashraful Aid has extended its distribution of Zakaat hampers in Gauteng and other provinces. In November, we plan on reaching out to more areas in Cape Town…

Feedback from Ashraful Aid Women’s Month Activities

Poverty affects thousands of Women and girls from purchasing basic hygiene essentials. This Women’s month Ashraful Aid embarked on raising funds and collecting items for the distribution of hygiene packs. The packs consisted of a branded bag filled with sanitary pads, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, body lotion and face masks.

Ashraful Aid Receives Central Gauteng Lions’ 2021 Award – ‘The Order of The Lion’

At the 2020/21 CGL awards, we recognised Ashraful Aid, an International Humanitarian Organisation as the recipient of our prestigious Central Gauteng Lions Presidential Awards called ‘The Order of the Lion’. This award is in recognition of the exceptional services rendered to the development of cricket and contribution beyond cricket.

Provision of daily meals to Covid19 patients in Lenasia

Ashraful Aid, has embarked on a daily free food campaign for Covid-19 affected patients in the Lenasia and Lenasia South areas of Gauteng. The campaign aims to assist those who are unable to prepare meals while in quarantine and have no assistance or support during this time.
